Biography
French sculptor Anilore Banon is globally renowned for her emotional artistic style that explores in verticality the themes of human resilience, hope, and connection – a notion visible in all she creates. She has lived all over the world—China, USA, Italy—born in Morocco and raised in Paris, where she now lives. She has established her workshop in a former pharmaceutical factory.
Many of Anilore’s works are public installations, deliberately designed to interact with the viewer and their environment to foster a dialogue between art, space, and humanity. One of her most notable pieces, Les Braves, was installed on Omaha Beach, Normandy to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the 1944 D-Day landing. In Grosse Pointe, Michigan an official twin of this monumental sculpture, named Les Braves II was installed as a tribute to Western allies who landed on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. This tribute to ultimate courage is a three-part piece comprising wings of hope, the rise of freedom, and the wings of fraternity.
Another of note, 10 Commandments for a New Millenium, was created to inspire hope for a united humanity. Installed on Place Vendôme in Paris before moving to the gardens of the Hotel Matignon, the French Prime minister’s residence, then to the archeological site of Carsulae in italy.
Driven by a burning desire for a brighter future, the best is far from behind Anilore. This deep connection to her subject matter is the heartbeat and conscience that is present in all Anilore’s work.
She has recently embarked on a profound project, VITAE, a living sculpture to be installed on the surface of the moon. In doing so, she is collaborating with international leaders and sourcing one million handprints of people globally, both anonymous and known, digitally engraved on the artwork. The final result is meant to evoke, both literally and figuratively, the concept of a universal human journey and yet unprecedented global unity through art and science.
She has had global recognition by CNN, Chinadaily, China News Herald Tribune, and was awarded the Medal of Merit by the French Minister of Culture in June 2024 and in the same year was given the IWF’s Women Who Make a Difference award.
In 2025, Forbes France and L'Oréal launched the inaugural Forbes France 50 Over 50 list, celebrating inspiring and visionary women. Among the honorees, Anilore Banon was selected to feature in this prestigious ranking, highlighting 50 influential, committed, and forward-thinking women leading bold initiatives.
"Sculpting entails engraving the breath of infinite hope onto people’s hearts."
